A superb mix, that translates seamlessly across multiple media from big-screen to web, requires 'best in class' studio monitoring. Our Dynaudio Acoustics Air 20 series active monitoring was installed by leading acoustic consultants Munro Associates, ensuring a perfectly balanced listening environment and a beautifully balanced mix.
The TC Electronic System 6000 is one of the best algorithmic reverb and mastering units available. Popular among the world's leading post production and scoring studios, it offers unrivalled multichannel reverb and mastering tools. We also use convolution reverb in the form of Altiverb 7 and Vienna Mir Pro, to accurately emulate the sound of real concert and recording spaces using samples.
Trailermen was one of the first studios in the UK to adopt Avid's latest HDX incarnation of ProTools. Offering huge gains in processing DSP, improved AD/DA converters, streamlined workflow and the ability to run more complex mix sessions, with increased numbers of tracks at higher sample-rates, it enables the delivery of highly complex and pristine recordings.
Despite the advances in digital audio technology, many leading producers and mix engineers still depend on select analog hardware. We use Class A outboard by the likes of Neve, Milennia Media, Manley, Groove Tubes and Thermionic Culture, which are fully integrated into our ProTools HDX mixing environment.
The Trailermen approach to media music often involves fusing orchestral and acoustic instruments with electronic components, synthesizers and sound-design. We use some of the industry’s best-loved analogue hardware synthesizers and virtual analogue instruments and effects, to complement our live sessions, when we need to deliver characterful retro or edgy futuristic scores.
Orchestral libraries have improved dramatically over recent years. Some productions can be sensitively scored without the need for live sessions and the associated costs. Where budgets extend to live players, detailed mock-ups can get closer than ever to the intended sound, using highly detailed libraries by the likes of Vienna Instruments, Audiobro, East West, Project Sam and Cinesamples. This reduces uncertainty in recording sessions and affords earlier access to temp tracks for cutting.
